Convenience retail giant 7-Eleven has rolled out its Mobile Checkout contactless shopping service to more than 2,500 other stores in the United States.
With the expansion, mobile payment capability is available in more than 3,000 7-Eleven stores in 32 states and 7-Eleven Inc., based in the District of Columbia, Irving, Texas, said Tuesday. The feature allows users of the 7-Eleven mobile app to scan products and pay for their purchases through their smartphones, skipping the checkout line.

Currently, Mobile Checkout is available in 7-Eleven stores in major US markets including New York, Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando (Florida), Miami, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon and Seattle, as well as Washington, DC The retailer said it plans to offer the service in all of its U.S. stores by the end of 2022.

For a limited time, 7-Eleven is encouraging customers to try Mobile Checkout by offering 10 times the reward points for every purchase made using the in-app tool. The 7Rewards loyalty program has more than 50 million members.
To use Mobile Checkout, shoppers download the 7-Eleven app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, register or sign in to the 7Rewards loyalty program, open the app at a participating store, and tap the Mobile Checkout icon on the homepage. Then, customers can start scanning the barcode on the products added to their cart. Discounts and promotions are applied automatically. Users can pay for their in-app purchases through a debit or credit card as well as through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the 7-Eleven Wallet tool. Before leaving the store, customers scan the on-screen QR code at the confirmation station or show it to a salesperson to confirm payment for the purchase.
Mobile payment is available for most 7-Eleven products with barcode. Some items still require the assistance of a cashier, such as financial services and age-verified products, such as alcohol, tobacco, and lottery tickets.
In more than 1,300 cities, customers can also order drinks, hot food and groceries and have them delivered through the 7NOW delivery app.
