Ex-Grantham soldier is relaunching his fitness clothing brand

A former soldier, who created his own gym and fitness clothes during confinement, has relaunched the brand’s clothing.

The Iron Graft was created by Tommy Kavanagh after getting back into shape when “the unimaginable happened and our freedom was temporarily taken away and the only freedom we had was an hour of exercise per day”.

It relaunched with “premium athletic and fitness apparel for men and women” last Wednesday.

Tommy said: “We are passionate about comfort and quality. Both men’s and women’s garments feature moisture wicking technology to keep you cool and dry. Some items have added panels in mesh that allow extra breathability and maximize airflow.”

Tommy once served as a private in the British Army but was discharged on medical grounds in 2015 after an injury could not be repaired following surgery.

After being released, he no longer cared about his physical condition and “sent into a state of disrepair”, he said.

It was in confinement that he returned to fitness and created the brand The Iron Graft.

Tommy said: “For me, The Iron Graft has become something more than just a name. It has become a statement. It has become something that resonates with my core value of working hard to achieve my goals and my targets.

“I started creating my own sportswear brand for like-minded people who could relate to what we stand for.”

The Iron Graft has worked with other Grantham gyms, including Oceans and Anytime Fitness, which have helped relaunch the brand.

In the future, Tommy hopes to grow the brand and “showcase our brand at the UK’s biggest fitness shows, which will allow us to engage with our customers to come up with more sustainable designs, colors and fabrics”, did he declare.

“We want to collaborate with athletes and share the journeys of a people.”

Tommy would like to thank Oceans Gym and Anytime Fitness for helping to promote the relaunch, as well as photographer Toby Roberts who took photos for the website.

He concluded: “This is a great example of the local community coming together and why we want to build a strong relationship with the local community.

“Success starts with building a great team and Oceans and Anytime Fitness have helped The Iron Graft build a great team. We can’t wait to see where it takes us.”
