A 38-year-old man on probation for a similar act is accused of using a cell phone to film a teenage girl in a fitting room at a Utica clothing store, media reported.
Kristopher Joseph Murray of St. Clair Shores was formally charged last week by Shelby Township District Court 41A of surveying an undressed person and facing a probable cause conference on September 7.
Murray allegedly slipped a phone under a changing room door last Wednesday while in a changing room next to Plato’s Closet’s daughter in the Shelby Corners shopping center on Hall and Schoenherr roads, according to reports.
Last October, Murray admitted in a criminal court to filming under a woman’s skirt in February 2020 at Somerset Mall in Troy, court records show. Accused of capturing or distributing an image of an undressed person and of using a computer to commit a crime, he argued without question of the shooting charge in the Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac.
He was sentenced to five years’ probation and two days in prison.
Murray is on the state sex offender registry.
In last week’s incident, police were called after the young girl informed her mother of what had happened.
Police suspect Murray changed phones before he was arrested by police, according to reports. Police are asking anyone who may have seen Murray outside the store that day to contact them at 586-731-2345.
