BOCA RATON, FL, July 19, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Product makers have welcomed the June retail sales report, which shows year-over-year numbers at pre-pandemic levels.
The June retail sales report showed two strong numbers:
- Retail sales increase of 0.6 percent for June which exceeded expectations.
- Sales growth of 18% year over year, which is significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels.
âDomestic and international product makers are watching the US numbers closely,â said Mitch Gould, founder and CEO of Nutritional Products International, a global brand management company based in Boca Raton, Florida. âDespite the pandemic, companies are planning for the future. NPI customers look to launch new products in the United States
“Many industries, such as health and wellness, have resisted the impact of the pandemic,” Gould said, adding that online sales of dietary supplements, especially vitamins, had exploded. in the past 18 months. âThe companies I talk to every week are cautiously optimistic. They realize that the immediate success will lie in online sales rather than traditional brick and mortar purchases. “
During the pandemic, consumers switched to online shopping even for products they had always bought in person. As a result, online retailers, such as Walmart and Amazon, have experienced tremendous growth due to COVID-19.
Walmart said e-commerce sales in the United States grew 37% in the first quarter of this year. Globally, e-commerce sales have grown by almost 43%.
Amazon also reported huge sales figures. First quarter sales led to the fourth quarterly profit record in the past 12 months.
âThere is a lot of pent-up consumer demand fueling retail sales,â Gould said.
Gould and NPI work with health and wellness brands looking to increase sales or launch new products in the United States.
During the pandemic, NPI continued to develop the American infrastructure that brands need to sell their products in the United States.
âI developed a system – ‘The Distribution Evolution’ – that provides all of the professional services product manufacturers need to grow their sales in the United States or launch new products here,â Gould said.
Through the âEvolution of Distributionâ platform, NPI offers its clients sales, logistics and regulatory compliance services with marketing campaigns run by its sister company, InHealth Media.
âEvolving distribution is a profitable strategy that emphasizes speed to market,â said Gould.
Gould and NPI also provide their clients with years of e-commerce experience.
âIn the early 2000s, I placed over 100 brands on Amazon, when the online giant launched its health and wellness category,â Gould said. “Amazon was diversifying beyond books and electronics.”
It was around this time that Gould met Jeff Fernandez, President of NPI, who in the early 2000s worked on Amazon’s team of retail buyers tasked with stocking virtual shelves with products from health and well-being.
âAmazon was looking for products and I had industry contacts,â he said.
Eventually, Gould hired Fernandez to work for NPI, where he is now president of the company.
As the US economy rebounds, NPI’s professional team continues to develop the retail infrastructure that health and wellness brands need to sell their products in the United States.
âWe work every day to place health and wellness products with large and small retailers,â he said.
