As I write this, I am hours away from a getaway to France. My bag is packed, and I’m dreaming of taking the first bite of a chocolate croissant and washing it down with an espresso — while dressed in Parisian style, of course. I’ve had to be very picky about which wardrobe items go overseas, as I plan to fill my suitcase with vintage finds and snacks, so I’ve pared down my shoe collection drastically. A pair that did make the cut? My Old Navy Linen-Blend Pointy-Toe Mule Flats ($25), which are the epitome of chic — if I do say so myself.
It helps that the majority of the items I’ve bought for spring are linen and the shoes match them perfectly (although it’s not like it’s going to be hard to style these babies even if they don’t ). A reviewer who gave them a five-star review wrote that they loved the “casual look but overall formal appearance”. I think that’s right – they’re super lightweight and easy to pack away, but they also exude a sophistication that’s sure to enhance any look. And did I mention they’re only $25? Google similar pairs and you will find that a majority are well above $100. I’m going to stick with my Old Navy pair (for now, anyway).
As I haven’t landed in France yet, I can’t tell you how my feet will feel after a day of walking. What I can say, however, is that these shoes have an incredibly comfortable cushioned footbed. I’m not sure it’s particularly compelling knowing that I took them around my one-bedroom apartment, but hey: they made me feel like I was walking on pillows. Do I really need to say more?
