A teenager has been found safe and sound while another is missing in Hawke’s Bay, police have confirmed.
On Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed that a missing girl, Kirihana, 15, had been found safe and sound following a call for her.
She had been missing from her home in Flaxmere, Hastings for over a week before being located.
However, another Maraenui girl in Napier, Johnette Edwards, 15, is still missing and police are still asking for the public’s help in locating her.
The two missing cases are not related, police confirmed.
Johnette has been missing since last Wednesday and her mother Christiene Edwards says her daughter took a phone, clothes and blankets with her and called her godmother that afternoon, just to tell her she was fine and that she “had a time out”.
Christiene said her daughter had run away from home before, but never for this long and the family were worried for her safety.
Her daughter messaged her godmother and aunts several times on Facebook Messenger, but Christiene said no one had heard her voice since last Wednesday, and the family were very worried someone else might. have his phone and send these messages.
She said she was also known to hang out in the Flaxmere area and might be in that suburb.
“Please contact the police or myself if you know where she is,” she said.
She said Johnette often wore her dark hair curled in a bun and could be spotted wearing a colorful scarf. Johnette is around 166cm (5ft 5in) tall and sturdy.
If you have seen Johnette or have information on her whereabouts, please contact the police on 111 and quote case number 220529/5000.
