VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Local entrepreneurs were plentiful at the Small Business Saturday Marketplace in the Vibe neighborhood of Virginia Beach.
There was a bit of everything from jewelry to clothes to soaps. And you can buy a free small tote when you enter.
One of the sellers was Alexa Bailey, owner of Bewitched Beauty. Her organic and vegan handcrafted skin care line saw the light of day 3 years ago.
“I probably easily devote 80 to 100 hours a week to this business,” Bailey said.
She hopes this holiday season people stop and shop at a local location before heading to the big box stores.
“With everything going on in the news with stuck cargo ships and the like, we’re not stuck. That’s why we want people to shop with us. We want them to understand that we are working in your community, we are here, we make our product, we want you to come see us, ”Bailey added.
A few tents away was Cherry Stoner LLC owner Jenn Loots.
She decided to quit her corporate job and start her own business where she sells t-shirts and other items designed with her original artwork.
She says that while the items may be cheaper elsewhere, the payoff is way more than a few dollars.
“The prices might be better, but you are not supporting your region. You don’t support the people you live, work and see with every day. This money is not returned and returned to the community, ”Loots said.
These business owners say that small shopping spreads the love of the community.
